Report of the Spirit in coaching seminar 2009, Poland
ECVD organized International seminar on the methodological and medical aspects of sitting volleyball - Spirit in coaching seminar during men and women European Championships in sitting volleyball. The seminar was held 22nd to 24th September in Elblag, Poland. The seminars and workshops were run in few hours sessions twice each day. This way people had better change to join the seminar between the matches. The main purpose of the seminar was to give volleyball interested people possibilities to become familiar with the studies and researched done Europe wide in sitting volleyball and disabled volleyball in general.
Many interesting topics were presented and lots of prevailing researches were brought up by the international lecturers Europe wide. This seminar was the first one in ECVD's history and it can be seen as a good opening of sharing the knowledge and continuing diverse development of the sport in a new way. Seminars and workshops will also be part of the program in all ECVD events in the future.
The number of participants in the seminar was not that high. Allthough during those three seminar days alltogether 25 people from 10 different participating countries were present in the seminar and workshops. In the future the most important is to organize seminars during the first days of the tournament, promote them effectively and widely in advance, organize them in competition venue, plan them together with the local organizer and make sure that it is also their interest and responsibility to have site events during the official ECVD events.
ECVD has thanked Mr Pavels Mustafins (LAT), Mr Bartosz Molik (POL), Mr Mikko Häyrinen (FIN), Mrs Hetty Voeten (NED) and Mr Michiel de Ruyter (NED) for giving ECVD and the members of the participating countries a change to be present in the seminar and workshops and that way increased the knowledge in the area of research in disabled sports.
